The Tatman Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation dedicated to educational and charitable endeavors particularly in marine sciences and safety. The foundation's chief activity is the operation of the vessel R/V Cormorant, providing a platform for marine biological research under the name CIRP (Channel Islands Research Program).  The R/V Cormorant is owned and operated by the University of California Santa Barbara.
